MEDIARTS

MEDIARTS  is a mediation program designed for non-profit groups.  Mediation is an alternative dispute resolution available to artists of all disciplines.

Difficulties arise between artists, their land-lords, collaborating partners and/or members of the community at large.  It becomes impractical for the parties involved to litigate these issues because of cost and time.  This is where mediation can be efficient.

In a mediation it is the parties who decide the out-come.  The mediation is a non-threatening situation in which the parties can communicate their concerns.  Above all, in mediation, the parties are the solvers of the issue.  The Mediator is merely a neutral and non-judgmental party who acts as a guide.  In this role, the mediator only asks questions in order to focus discussion and to clarify issues.

Emotions often run very high in a legal dispute, but because a mediation is voluntary between parties there is an air of cooperation.  All parties realize that everyone must surrender a bit.  This surrender, however, leads to a "WIN" for all.
